DESCRIPTION:Dr Bike is returning to Reading town centre on the first Thursday of the month throughout 2025. \n\n\n\nThe team from Avanti Cycling will be back in Broad Street carrying out free bike maintenance checks and basic repairs. \n\n\n\nJust turn up with your bike at their gazebo outside Sainsbury’s between 11am – 2pm. \n\n\n\nThe free sessions are sponsored by the Council to support active travel in Reading.

SUMMARY:Walks Festival Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:Meet at The Forbury Gardens\, Reading\, RG1 3EJ \n\n\n\nAs part of Reading Walks Festival\, this will be a Sustrans-led leisurely bike ride along parts of the National Cycle Network in the town. This leisurely ride will be 8km in length and will involve approximately 50 minutes – 1 hour of cycling.  \n\n\n\nThis is an out and back ride from the Forbury Gardens on some of the many stretches of Sustrans National Cycle Network – a vast\, national network of shared use paths\, quiet ways and low traffic roads.  \n\n\n\nReading has one route that crosses the town\, as well as two that start in the town. NCN 4 ( London to Bristol)\, NCN 5 (Reading’s  Kennetmouth to Anglesey)and NCN 23 (Green Park to Southampton). \n\n\n\nWe will mainly be riding on NCN 4 from the Oracle\, through Katesgrove and then traffic-free shared paths and tracks to Waterloo Meadow\, alongside the Kennet to Fobney Lock and Fobney Island Wetland Nature Reserve where we will stop for a drink and snack before we retrace our tracks to town along the cycle path and then the Fobney Street development and back to the Forbury Gardens. You will need a working bike\, appropriate clothing\, no open toed shoes. Helmets must be worn. Please bring a drink and snack. There are toilets at start and finish at Forbury Gardens.Please note: this ride is under the management/insurance of Sustrans. DESCRIPTION:The University of Reading’s Community Festival is a free family-friendly event for the local community.  The programme will include live music\, theatre and performance\, workshops\, sporting activities\, community stands\, a craft market\, street food\, and a range of research-related activities and talks. \n\n\n\nPlus – come and meet us!!! DESCRIPTION:Meet at 19:30 outside Reading Borough Council Civic Offices for a 40ish minute ride around Reading. \n\n\n\nWe cycle together as a group\, with whoever is in the lead choosing the route. Before finishing at a pub to put the world to rights over a drink. \n\n\n\nSpeed is slow to moderate and people of all cycle levels welcome. \n\n\n\nJoin the ride to change the streets!
