The committee manages the day-to-day affairs of the Reading Cycle Campaign. It gets together at least once a month alternating between committee meetings and open meetings. Committee meetings are open to all members but follow an agenda.
We are always looking for new members to join the committee (for vacant positions see below). Please get in touch if you’d like to lend a hand. Email: secretary@readingcyclecampaign.org.uk
Chair: Joe Edwards
I am a bit older than this now, but still as enthusiastic about cycling! And of course young at heart (our words…)
Secretary: Keith Elliott
I moved to Reading in 1993 and shortly afterwards joined the Cycle Campaign, when a leaflet was left on my bike. I am the campaign’s secretary but have been RBC Campaigning Officer for several years before that. I’m a commuter cyclist, rather than leisure rider. One of my most memorable rides was when we had really bad snow and ice in January 2010. I cycled right down the centre of London Road in the rush hour, without a car in sight.
Treasurer: Brian Morley
As Treasurer I control the bank account, pay the bills, and keep the score.
Membership Secretary: Keith Collyer
I use my bike primarily for fitness. Yes, I am a MAMIL! I’d love to use it more for errands but I am afraid of it being stolen. I am a retired systems engineer living on the Earley border near the University. I have been here for over 35 years.
Reading Campaign Officer: Tony Carr
I am a retired traffic and safety engineer. I have worked for various councils in and around Berkshire for around 40 years. I am keen to improve conditions to encourage cycling, particularly for those that do not presently cycle. Cycling should be easy, safe and even more fun for all cyclists.
I liaise with Reading Council officers on cycling infrastructure proposals and requests.
Wokingham Campaign Officer: Alex Cran
I’ve lived in the Wokingham area since 2010. As a sometime cycle commuter I had heard about the Reading Cycle Campaign but not become involved. When I had children I started cycling them up the gridlocked Reading Road in Winnersh to get to their nursery. I felt very vulnerable. It was this and realising that having good intentions about the environment but not doing anything, was not enough. I joined RCC to be involved in changing things for the future.
West Berks Campaign Officer: Rob Hill
I am a retired teacher living in Pangbourne. I am now a mostly leisure rider having been in the past a keen off-road cyclist.
My aim is to help improve the facilities for cyclists in Reading. In particular that part of greater Reading within West Berkshire.
Events: Kat Heath
I am passionate about cycling and making our streets safer for all users. I am an advocate for inclusive design and safe streets.
Kat was recognised by Cycling UK in 2022 as one of the top 100 Women in Cycling.
Publicity Officer: Susan Children
I am primarily a leisure cyclist. I love the lanes and canal paths around Reading and challenging myself with multi day cycling touring trips.
I’d prefer to use my bike for more local ‘utility’ journeys, rather than travelling by bus or car. Unfortunately the lack of secure bike parking in Reading is a major hindrance. I treasure my bike and want to keep it!
Cycling UK Rep: Karen Robertson
I represent Cycling UK Reading on the Committee to maximise our joint impact locally. I am a keen cyclist with my bike being my main form of transport both around Reading and further afield.
I am also involved with Reading Bike Kitchen, Avanti Cycle Training and the University of Reading Sustainability Team.
Newsletter Editor: Alice Elliott
I confess I am the non-regular cyclist on the committee. I started designing the Newsletter in 2003 and have been producing ever since.
Please let me know if you’d like to help with the Newsletter. We publish four times a year and all the templates etc are setup.
Web Manager: Stuart Ward
I am a keen cyclist and e-biker. Tinkerer with all things mechanical, electronic, and computer related.
