We have had a report of bike thefts from the two-tier cycle racks on the north side of Reading Station.
It seems that thieves are able to remove the whole sliding rail from the upper tier, including the bike and the lock. Reading Borough Council own and maintain the racks and we have made the Council aware of the issue.
As it happens, the Council has won some money to make improvements to the station northern interchange. They say they are planning to install CCTV which specifically covers the bike racks.
In the meantime, if you have an expensive bike, we would advice you to think twice about using the upper tier of these racks.
