Light up the Night Bike Ride

Campaigns

Friday 10th Nov, 6pm, meet at the Lido.

The clocks have gone back and the days are becoming shorter, so it’s more important than ever that cyclists need to light up to be seen.

Cycling at night anytime of the year can be scary, particularly for women. Plus cycle paths that avoid traffic are often situated in out of the way, badly lit areas and can be over-grown and right next to the canal or river. This can make them feel even more risky than traffic laden and well lit roads!

Join us to help us raise awareness of the challenges facing cyclists in Reading by decking out your bike in lights and wearing your hi-vis jackets for a leisurely cycle round Reading.

Join the grown-ups from Kiddical Mass, supported by Reading Cycle Campaign, Cycling UK and Avanti Cycling, to highlight the challenges of cycling in the dark in Reading.

We’ll meet by the Lido at 6pm and ride to the Fisherman’s Cottage for a few drinks, food and live music. Avanti Cycling will be on hand to provide free LED bike lights, plus you could also ‘pimp up’ your bike with lights from Light in the Box.

Jump over to our ‘Light up the Night’ FaceBook event page and let us know if you plan to come along so that we can book a table at the Fisherman’s Cottage.

Hope to see you there!
